Reed’s dictation runs on your Mac. This page lists every connection the app makes, what each one carries, and where you control it.
No usage analytics, no crash reports, no account, and never your audio, your transcripts or the text Reed writes into your apps. The app blocks its dictation pipeline from the network. What you choose to send us yourself, such as a support email, is separate and yours to decide.
None of these carry anything you said or wrote.
| What | When | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Speech-model download (about 461 MB) | During setup, when you press Download; again automatically only if the model files go missing | Hugging Face |
| Update check and download | Automatically, about once a day, and from “Check for Updates…” | Reed’s release bucket (Amazon S3) |
| “Report an issue” | Only when you choose it; it opens a form in your browser and the app sends nothing itself | GitHub, with whatever you choose to post |
Requests made through the app’s standard networking to any other host are refused. The update library makes its own connection, to the release bucket only.
Earlier versions had optional usage analytics (Aptabase) and crash reports (Sentry), switched in Settings → Privacy; Reed 0.2.5 offered them in a setup checkbox that starts checked. Updating to the current version removes both. See the Privacy page for what those versions sent.
reed.w20.ai uses Umami, a cookieless, aggregate page-view counter, to see which pages and download buttons are used. It does not identify you, is not linked to anything the app sends, and has nothing to do with the app.
