Reed 0.2.5 September 9, 2026 · 16 MB · Apple Silicon
- New on-device speech recognizer. Parakeet v3 replaces WhisperKit as the only recognizer. It downloads once during setup (about 461 MB) and runs on the Neural Engine. Older installs shed the unused WhisperKit models.
- Better cleanup of restarts. When you restart a phrase (“the plan the plan is…”), Reed keeps the version you meant, including across a pause. Emphasis (“really really”), quotations and negations are left as spoken.
- Numbers as digits. Spoken numbers, dates and hyphenated compounds are written the way you would type them.
- Long dictations. Audio beyond 20 seconds is split at quiet points before recognition, so a long thought no longer loses its tail.
- Apple Silicon only. The build is now arm64 only; an Intel Mac cannot open it. Requirements are unchanged otherwise: macOS 14 or later.
Reed 0.2.2 August 27, 2026 · 34 MB
- Setup now ends with a usage-stats and crash-reports checkbox that starts checked. Uncheck it there, or change your mind anytime in Settings → Privacy. Existing installs keep the choice they already made.
- Release tooling: deploy verification for the download and the update feed.
Notes describe what changed for people using Reed. The download above and the in-app updater always carry the same version. Something not working after an update? See Help or write to support@w20.ai.
